Siemens and Microsoft
Background
Siemens and Microsoft established a joint development relationship in 2003 and expanded the relationship with a worldwide Global Alliance Framework Agreement in 2004. The GAFA covers global sales and marketing activities in four target geographies including the US, Germany, UK and Switzerland. The primary objective of the alliance is to improve enterprise workflow and optimise business processes by integrating Siemens and Microsoft UC solutions into an organisation's existing infrastructure.
Teaming Up
The current focus of the relationship is centred around delivering true Unified Communication solutions by integrating the HiPath 8000 and OpenScape with Microsoft's UC infrastructure. These solutions create a new communications paradigm that leverages presence, preference and location information to make communications and collaboration more efficient in any media over any network.
Opening New Doors
Siemens and Microsoft share a complementary vision and market position in Unified Communications as demonstrated by our respective leadership positions held in the Gartner 2006 UC Magic Quadrant. Siemens and Microsoft are jointly developing solutions based on Siemens product suites and Microsoft UC technologies. Additionally, the two companies are enabling selling opportunities of UC solutions through joint marketing activities. An example of this activity includes Siemens' sponsorship and participation in the Microsoft Vista Key City Launch Events early in 2007.
