Siemens has launched an innovative new unified communications software platform; the OpenScape Unified Communications (UC) Server. The OpenScape UC Server is a revolution in communication design. It removes the artificial legacy barriers between today’s traditionally separate voice, video and unified communications systems to support a comprehensive suite of UC applications. This suite will initially include enterprise grade voice with carrier grade scalability and reliability, IP least cost routing, video conferencing and role-based UC applications.
OpenScape UC Server software is the foundation for the new OpenScape Unified Communications Suite. The OpenScape UC Server enables presence, administration, session control and other shared services across the current family of OpenScape UC Suite of applications.

In accordance with Siemens’ Open Communications approach, OpenScape UC Server has been built from the ground up as an open, SIP-based, software IT communications and UC application foundation with shared web-services components that leverage Siemens’ OpenSOA architecture.
No need to change equipment
Using HiPath 8000 and HiPath OpenExchange already? These applications have been redesigned to run natively on the OpenScape UC Server for enterprise voice and IP least cost routing. All of the OpenScape UC suite of applications slot easily into whatever systems you use currently. They operate in multi-vendor environments and integrate with complementary offerings including IBM Sametime and Microsoft Office Communication Server.
The OpenScape UC Server is appropriate for any organization with 1000 users or more and will be available in three versions. The Medium Edition (ME) configuration is a single server solution with optional redundancy for up to 1,000 users. Large enterprise? The Large Edition (LE) is a multi-server configuration for up to 100,000 users. Up to 20,000 of those receive full UC functionality and up to 100,000 basic UC functionality. The Hosted Edition (HE) contains additional application components to support the unique requirements of service providers and hosting organisations.
